Mary is a portly eight-year-old girl. Max is a middle-aged Jewish New Yorker suffering from Asperger's Syndrome. They seem to have little in common, but the unlikely pen pals begin to exchange letters discussing everything from taxidermy, trust, pets, religion, obesity, autism, agoraphobia, alcoholism. Academy Award-winning Harvie Krumpet director Adam Elliot returns to the world of clay animation with this simple tale of the innocent correspondence between the dissimilar two.
